Electric School Bus Funding is Available for School Districts in Colorado

Clean Fleet Enterprise Program

Light, medium, and heavy-duty electric vehicles, including school buses are eligible to apply for Clean Fleet Enterprise funding through a competitive grant. The program funds up to 70% of vehicle costs. This program is currently closed. Learn more.

Fleet Zero EV Charging Grant Program

The Fleet Zero EV Charging Grant funds infrastructure costs, including EV chargers and associated equipment, with funds up to $40,000 of infrastructure costs per charger available. This program is currently closed. Learn more.

Charge Ahead Colorado Program

Up to $250,000 is available for charging infrastructure (up to six Level 2 chargers). Applications open in January, May, and September. Learn more.

Xcel Energy Program

Xcel Energy offers its customers fleet electrification advisory services as well as infrastructure implementation services. Xcel launched an Electric School Bus Rebate program in 2025 that provides $400,000 per electric school bus and infrastructure funding to support the installation and procurement of bidirectional charging infrastructure.
