Your Guide to Colorado’s Electric School Bus Incentive Programs

Electric school bus grant and incentive funding is available now to help electrify your district’s school bus fleet.

Funding is Available for School Districts in Colorado

Electric school bus funding is available through the following state incentive programs:

Fleet Zero EV Charging Grant

Up to $500,000 is available to support changing infrastructure for school district fleets (including school buses!). Applications open twice per year in the spring and fall. Learn more.

Clean Fleet Enterprise

Between $30,000 and $275,000 is available per vehicle for Class 3 through Class 8 electric vehicles. Learn more.

Charge Ahead Colorado

Up to $250,000 is available for charging infrastructure (up to six Level 2 chargers). Applications open in January, May, and September. Learn more.

Funding is also available through the following utility incentive program:

Xcel Energy

Xcel Energy offers its customers fleet electrification advisory services as well as infrastructure implementation services. Xcel is releasing an Electric School Bus Rebate program in 2025 that will provide $400,000 per electric school bus and infrastructure funding to support the installation and procurement of bidirectional charging infrastructure.
