Director of Federal Business Development
Location: Washington, DC area
Employment: Full-Time
Compensation: Salary plus bonus
Description
The Director of Federal Business Development will lead the federal business development organization and manage to annual aggressive growth quotas. The ideal candidate has successfully led an organization through aggressive federal sales growth with similar business characteristics to Highland’s capabilities and focus.
Responsibilities
Strategy: Lead the company’s federal business development, strategic planning development, and execution
Business Development: Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities with Federal Government agencies in alignment with Highland’s plan and service practice areas
Project Development: Lead the project development efforts to close on early market, opportunities, with the support of Highland’s origination team (technical, engineering, finance teams)
Coordination: Facilitate activities and commitments with other departments and/or functions within Highland Electric Fleets
Skills
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or engineering or related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience
Preference for some background leading business development organizations successfully in federal government contracting
Military service a plus
Extensive knowledge of and experience with federal agencies, including organizational structure, process, policy objectives, and decision makers
Strong organizational skills, including the capacity to supervise and drive multiple cross-functional work streams simultaneously
Expert communicator capable of engaging with a range of audiences that span technical analysts and high-level policy-makers and the ability to shape complex, multi-discipline documents for specific audiences
Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Planning and organization, project management, and time management skills
Strong analytical skills
Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations
Must be comfortable in a high growth environment
Flexibility and adaptability, and an ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities
